Genetic Football

The 2018 World Cup is coming up. I've never been a huge fan of football, but I can appreciate a good game, especially during a World Cup when it's usually fairly obvious which team you're supposed to root for.

However, my team did not qualify for this year's World Cup. Norway will not be playing! What, then, are we Norwegians (and others in our situation) supposed to do?

The DNA testing company 23andMe has the answer: Take a DNA test!

I'm not joking. 23andMe will give you team suggestions based on your DNA test results - autosomal, Y-DNA and mtDNA. These are mine. Funnily enough, I would probably have rooted for Sweden and Denmark anyway, since they are Norway's neighbours. I might not have thought of England, but I do have roots there, so why not?

Unfortunately, although my ancestors came from the great football nation of England, they do not seem to have passed on any particular talent to me. I do not seem to have inherited the football gene!
